About
I'm Nick Gustafson, a software engineer and data scientist in Washington, DC. I currently work at Google, bringing Google's AI to the public sector. Before that I was a Solutions Architect at AWS and a software engineer at Microsoft on Azure Security.
I have a B.S. in Mathematics from Florida State, a Master's in Data Science from UMBC, and I'm finishing an M.S. in Computer Science at Georgia Tech. I hold 11 AWS certifications and a Google Cloud Architect certification.
This blog is where I work through the things I want to understand deeply. The main thing living here is Holding the LLM Stack in Your Head, a dependency-ordered walk through the full stack from linear algebra to agent protocols.
If you spot something wrong, or want to argue about a framing, email me. I'd rather fix it than let it sit.
